Public Benefit: Provides a shared roadmap for transforming the Florida corridor through transit, housing, green space, commercial revitalization, and infrastructure investment.

The Florida Corridor Master Plan is a comprehensive reinvestment strategy for a 3.5-mile stretch of Florida Boulevard—from Mid City to the Florida/Greenwell Springs split in North Baton Rouge. The corridor is a major connector for thousands of residents but has long faced disinvestment, vacancy, and underutilized land.

Led by Build Baton Rouge, the plan was developed in partnership with residents, business owners, faith leaders, elected officials, and city agencies. It is rooted in extensive engagement, data analysis, and urban design, and offers catalytic development scenarios for key opportunity sites. Focus areas include affordable housing, transit-oriented development, improved drainage and walkability, commercial façade enhancements, and small business support.

The plan was funded through a federal planning grant and released in 2024. It sets the stage for long-term implementation in alignment with the upcoming Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line and BBR’s broader equitable development work.
